3 Days Camping Safari
This 3-day camping safari covers the same route as our 3-Day Tanzania Lodge Safari, Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, at a lower price point by swapping lodge accommodation for a public campsite near Karatu for both nights. You’ll sleep in a dome tent on a proper camp bed, with all meals cooked by our crew, while still getting the same private 4×4, driver-guide and park access as the lodge version.
Three days under canvas gives a genuine taste of camping safari life, falling asleep to the sounds of the bush after a day of game drives, without the logistics of a multi-night mobile camping trek. If comfort matters more than budget, our 3-Day Tanzania Lodge Safari covers the identical route with lodge or tented-camp accommodation instead. Travelers who’d rather keep it short can also look at our 2-Day Tanzania Camping Safari, which covers Tarangire and Ngorongoro without Lake Manyara.

Morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for the drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and a high concentration of wildlife along the Tarangire River. You'll enjoy a full game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park, then continue in the afternoon to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, you descend over 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best wildlife-viewing areas in Africa. The crater floor hosts lion, elephant, buffalo and hippo, with flamingos around the soda lake and one of the highest chances in Tanzania of spotting the endangered black rhino. After a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, you ascend the rim road and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a narrow strip of park squeezed between the Manyara escarpment and the lake shore, known for its lush groundwater forest, large troops of baboons, flamingos, and the tree-climbing lions that rest in the branches of acacia and sausage trees during the heat of the day. After a game drive through the park, you exit in the afternoon and continue to Arusha or Moshi, or transfer to the airport as arranged.
